China Is Attacking The U.S. – Yet We Still Fuel Their Economy. Why?

Unfortunately, my darkest fears have now become a reality. The greed of Wal-Mart, who led America’s outsourcing and forced other corporations to do the same to stay competitive has allowed China to become a major military power, and their attacks on the United States are escalating, now with dire consequences:

China winning cyber war, Congress warned

Panel says China in a position to delay or disrupt the deployment of America’s military forces around the world

China is aggressively developing its power to wage cyber warfare and is now in a position to delay or disrupt the deployment of America’s military forces around the world, potentially giving it the upper hand in any conflict, a panel of the US Congress has warned.

The panel’s report discloses an alarming increase in incidents of Chinese computer attacks on the US government, defense companies and businesses. It notes that China now has both the intent and capability to launch cyber attacks “anywhere in the world at any time”.

China’s ability to wage cyber warfare is now “so sophisticated that the US may be unable to counteract or even detect the efforts” (Emphasis added), the report warns.
Given the dependence on the internet of key sectors of US public life, from the federal government and military to water treatment, social security and the electricity grid, “a successful attack on these internet-connected networks could paralyze the US”. MUCH MORE

When you finish reading the above article in it’s entirety, the intent of the Chinese is obvious; they appear to be stealing the bulk of America’s military secrets – and according to the UK Guardian, China has successfully stolen “up to 20 terabytes of data — twice the amount stored in the entire print collection of the Library of Congress.” The Chinese appear to be readying themselves to render the United States defenseless if and when they choose to do so, and based on their successes – they are in a position to do it at will, which is a breach of national security that staggers the imagination. It’s also noteworthy these facts are not found in America’s mainstream news media. As usual, the greed of America’s corporations are profit orientated and none choose to expose China for their continued cyber attacks and theft of vital military technology that continues and escalates by the day.

CNN has reported that:

“China is poised to have more impact on the world over the next 20 years than any other country,” it notes.

The report projects that China will have the world’s second largest economy by 2025 and will be a leading military power.

Equally problematic for U.S. policymakers is the fact that China is expected to become the world’s biggest polluter and largest importer of natural resources. LINK

CNN offers a reminder that China is a growing military power, however, ignores the seriousness of the vulnerable infrastructure of our computer networks which China has infiltrated and used to undermine and could use to render the U.S. almost defenseless if and when a conflict finally emerges. Even more unsettling is the military alliance that Russia and China have created, obviously in response to the imperialism and warmongering of the Bush administration. Much more information has been withheld from the American public – and some of it nullifies many of our current offense/defense capabilities:

Xiandai Junshi (Modern Military) magazine, 2003, #6:

“Along with multiple achievements in the Iraqi war, American forces suffered some setbacks. Among the launched long-range cruise missiles, four units greatly missed targets inside Iraq, two units fell in Turkey, and several units fell in Saudi Arabia. “Now it is evident that electronic interference can influence the flight of these missiles. Particularly, Russian-made cheap interference devices, which spoil the positioning signals of American GPS systems, could be the major factor here. Research and development of interference devices spoiling the signals of GPS systems could become [for China] a trend in the development of weapons capable of opposing non-contact operational weapons.

“The recognition system of American precision-guided weapons is also imperfect. American and British military aircraft often made mistakes in differentiating between ‘our side’ and the enemy. Using ‘confusing fake and real’ methods against these recognition systems also attracted the attention of world military specialists [primarily Chinese].” (end of quote) LINK

In this author’s opinion, China’s unrelenting cyber attacks and theft of valuable civil and military technology cannot go unanswered. To me, there is only one answer; we must stop allowing unmitigated greed and profit to undermine our national security. The cyber attacks which are designed to undermine our entire defense/offense capability has been driven by corporate America’s outsourcing. It’s time for the American people to understand that when we succumb to cheap Chinese imports because of our economic situation, we are supporting a country whose intentions are dubious at best – and at worst an attempt to destroy our country should a serious conflict ever arise.

The United States cannot survive as a “service based” economy. It is imperative that the Obama administration understand that we must quit relying on cheap foreign imports and revitalize our core industries – and to do less is to guarantee our eventual downfall. President-Elect Obama stated in several of his campaign speeches that Americans will be called upon to sacrifice, and I’m hoping that the Obama team understands that when our economy is tanking, Americans should reinvent our manufacturing sector and make it a matter of patriotism to “buy American.” In this case, the best price is not the best deal, and in order to rebuild this nation, we must revitalize our manufacturing capability and manufacture the bulk of our goods at home, not abroad.

Outsourcing, corporate greed, the Iraq War and Wall Street’s failures to protect the American people are the reasons our economy is failing. Without revitalizing our manufacturing sector and choosing the lowest priced goods we can import is destroying every segment of our economy, and with that comes a serious breach of our national security. The road ahead is rocky and uphill, however, if we choose the easy way out – it might be time to begin teaching Chinese to our children so they can exist in a nation that has sold it’s soul to those who smile like they are friends, but whose ultimate goal is to destroy the America we have fought and died for throughout our history.

Start enforcing our anti-trust laws, stop outsourcing what little industry we have left, bring back our manufacturing sector, and most importantly, understand that buying American is the only way to rebuild the economy of the United States. We face a daunting challenge, but in the words of President-Elect Obama, “YES WE CAN!”
